Live-in care for couples in Leeds
When one or both partners need support, couples face a painful choice: separate care homes, or one partner caring beyond what they can manage. Live-in care offers another way.
A single carer can support both of you - often with very different needs - in the home you've shared, sometimes for decades.

Could couples care help?
It's often a good fit when:
- One partner is caring for the other and becoming exhausted
- Both of you need some help with daily life
- You want to stay together, whatever happens
What your carer helps with
- Personal care for one or both partners
- Cooking for two and keeping the house running
- Medication for each person, kept separate and on time
- Time for the healthier partner to rest or go out
- Outings you can enjoy together
What a day can look like
Morning
Help for each of you to get up, at your own pace.
Daytime
Shared meals, appointments for one while the other is kept company.
Afternoon
Time out for the caring partner - a hair appointment, a coffee with friends.
Evening
Tea together and help for each of you at bedtime.
Every day is planned around the person - this is only an example.
Assessment and funding for couples
If you're seeking help from Leeds City Council, each of you can have a needs assessment, and the partner doing the caring can also ask for a carer's assessment. Financial assessments are carried out for each person individually.
What it costs for two
Couples care costs more than care for one person, because there is more to do, but it is usually far less than two care home places. We quote after the assessment, based on what both of you need.
